The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has approved the appointed of Isaac Adenipekun as its new Head of National Office.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the body’s spokesperson, Demianus Ojijeogu, in Lagos on Thursday.
His
appointment followed the retirement of the immediate past Head of
National Office, Charles Eguridu, who disengaged from the service of the
council on Tuesday.
The
statement said Adenipekun, hails from Osun State and graduated from the
then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in
1983 where he bagged a B.Sc, Hons, degree in Political Science and also
obtained an M.Sc degree in International Relations from the same
institution in 1987.
According to the statement, Adenipekun joined
the services of WASC on Oct. 3, 1989, as an Assistant Registrar II,
from where he rose through the ranks to become Senior Assistant
Registrar in 2000 and a Principal Assistant Registrar in 2005.
Adenipekun was promoted to the rank of a Deputy Registrar in 2011.
It
stated that the new WASC boss in Nigeria had held several positions of
accountability in the council and had distinguished himself as a primus
inter pares, a first among equals.
The statement further noted
that Adenipekun was Head, Meetings and General Services Department of
the body from February 1996 to January 2001, adding that he assumed
office as the Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC on Dec. 9.
He
is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria,
FCAI, and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, MNIM, the
statement said.
Sequel to his appointment as Head of National Office, he was the zonal coordinator, WAEC Zonal Office, Ibadan.
